Cleaning the Trunk

We have a trunk (or chest) in our living room. Neal and the kids made it a couple of years ago. It was supposed to be a deck box, but when I saw it I wanted it for my living room. It holds most of our games (some are in the basement) and our afghans and throws.

Here it is:

It started getting so full that I was having trouble closing it, so last week I took everything out of it:(where's Beth?)

See how big this trunk is?

After I got everything out of the trunk I weeded through and made a few donations to Good Will. Then I reorganized everything.

Here's the way it's supposed to look!

Fire, Fire!

Everything finally came in and we have our fireplace installed and working! Yaah!!!

This is our new Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarm:

This is how close our new Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarm is to our new fireplace (we just put it where the old smoke detector was located):

See the blue stool? That is what we use to reach the Smoke/Carbon Monixide Alarm to turn it off every five minutes while the fire is burning.

Actually it doesn't go off anymore, however, the first few times we used the fire place it was pretty annoying! The first time was funny...the 5th or 6th time? Not so much.

It starts out with this somewhat loud "Beep, Beep," then a woman's voice loudly says "FIRE, FIRE," THEN THIS REALLY EARDRUM SPLITTING "BEEEEP, BEEEEP" keeps going until you turn it off. Fortunately, as I said, it no longer does that and we are enjoying our nice, toasty fire!

Ta Daaaaa!

Remember the romantic evening Neal and I had looking for microwaves? Well, it finally arrived! Wahoo!!!! It was a booger to put up though. Beth and I held it up, while Neal screwed it in. The problem was with the template though. They have this easy to use template to guide you for the holes for the screws. Pshaw...not! Poor guy had to redo the holes three times before he got it to work! This picture was of the last time he was working on it...I decided to give my poor arms a break and let my back do the work. I felt kinda like a pack mule!

My Fireplace

Finally...here's a picture of my new fireplace mantel. As you can see, it's just a shell, but hopefully by February there will be logs in there!

See our old tv up there? That was a wedding gift from my Aunt Sally and Uncle Darrell almost 17 years ago! It has been the best TV, and we still get a good picture on it. Yes, we'd like to get a flat planel tv someday, but it's difficult to go and spend seven or eight hundred dollars on a tv when you have one that works just fine!
Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
