Easter

I can't remember the last time we didn't go to church on Easter morning, but we didn't get to go yesterday. Beth had pink eye and we didn't get it diagnosed until Saturday. She needed to be on antibiotic drops 24 hours before we took her to church, so that ruled out Sunday morning. Neal still felt really bad Saturday evening. He had a cough, congestion, and he kept running a fever off and on. I let both of them sleep in yesterday and they didn't get up until 11:00! Beth woke up with clear eyes, and when Neal woke up he felt fine, too!

Around 1:00 we went to Neal's grandfather's house for lunch. (Beth had strict orders not to shake hands with anyone :o) There were 25 people there, and we all had a nice time catching up and eating.

Last night, since everyone was feeling better and Beth has her drops in for 24 hours, we went to church. It ended up mostly being a song service, and was so worshipful. The last song we sang touched me deeply. It's an old song that I've known all my life, but I guess with what we're going through right now it was very comforting.

Because He Lives

God sent His Son - they called Him Jesus,
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Chorus:

Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

How sweet to hold a newborn baby
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because Christ lives.

(Chorus)

And then one day I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory - and I'll know He lives.

(Chorus)

Tonight Neal and I have to have our "what if" talk. "What if something goes wrong and Neal doesn't make it through surgery," or "what if something happens before he makes it to surgery." I really don't think this shows a lack of faith. I believe God wants us to be prepared at all times to take care of our families. We've actually had this talk before, but Neal has more to add to it this time. He's put more thought into it, and wants to write it down for me. I can't say I'm looking forward to it, but I know it needs to be done.

We are hoping to go out on a date Friday night, so I told him to get this talk over with and not bring that up on the date. :o) He agreed.

Happy Easter Monday!

I absolutely love that song! I am so thankful for the HOPE that Jesus Christ gives us. I couldn't imagine life without Him in my heart and without God's Word as a guide.

I'm glad that you and Neal are having that talk and WRITING IT DOWN. There is some peace of mind to have discussed these things... whether or not there is ever an immediate need.

Enjoy your date on Friday! Any idea what y'all are going to do yet? :-)

Marsha,

We haven't decided what to do yet. There's a restaurant we both like about an hour away, so I was thinking about that. We're thinking about going away overnight, but have to check the finances on that one!

Thanks for your encouraging comments! I appreciate them.

Did you read my Songs on Sunday post??!! I posted the same song. We did not sing it yesterday but we had such a horrible day yesterday, I clung to the words and kept putting one foot in front of the other. That song just sums it all up. How fortunate your children are that they have a living great Grandparent. My Grandma died when my oldest was two months. (She was almost 96) She waited to see him and 2 weeks after we left she died.

I've been thinking about you and your family a lot. I am thankful for our new friendship.

Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
